Reading Hunger Games: Mockingjay

I've been having sleepless night for the past one week because I have been reading the Hunger Games trilogy. I just couldn't put it down. I'm reading the the final book, Mockingjay and probably have about 3 chapters more to go. It is so good. I know the target readers are young adults but hey, we adults can read it too (I read kids books all the time).

So why did I decide to read this book on the first place? Well you can say that I don't have much choice. We went to the Childrens Library one Saturday to borrow some books for my daughter. I was thinking she rarely seen me reading a real book and I need to set good example if I want her to be an avid reader like I do. I read a lot but I read ebooks on my smartphone. So she might think that books are no fun because she sees me does this. So I decided to grab a book which happened to be the Hunger Games. The library is small and they don't have an impressive collection of young adults fiction.

What did I like about this book? I can say that I love the underdog theme of the book and how the oppressed citizens of Panem (the country in the book) fight hard to topple the evil government rule by President Snow. And of course there's the love triangle thingy between the 3 lead characters. (If I were Katniss, I would choose Peeta hands down...Gale is too 'angry' and vengeful.)

I can't write a long review today...my kids are awake and clomoring for my attention. So I will talk about this more soon. But you can read full review from other readers here.

Buat duit online dengan Tsu! Jom!

Today I gonna write something in Malay. I can speak it fluently but terrible in writing. This post is about the new social platform that pays - Tsu.co. The content is similar to my earlier post talking about the same thing.

***************************

Saya rasa was-was nak mencuba dan mungkin anda pun berpendapat begitu. Tetapi saya dah sign up kerana saya nak betul-betul experient betul ke tak benda ni. Saya ada melihat members post kan earnings mereka. Tak banyak, dua tiga sen saja tetapi duit tetap duit walau sedikit.

NOTA : Sila baca TOS. Laman web ini seperti semua revenue sharing sites tidak bertolak ansur dengan spammer. Jadi jangan buat posting nak cari follower seperti ini 'follow me', 'friend me' dan lain-lain.

Make money on TSU! Read on!

I am super excited to share about this. I received an email from Potpiegirl yesterday inviting me to join this new social networking site that is so similar to Facebook. The site is called TSU (pronounce SUE). But the most exciting thing is unlike Facebook, it shares its revenue with the users something like what Bubblews is doing...yay!!! Another stream of income!

Lets hear what the founder of Tsu has to say on this interview from Fox News.

Now here's the thing. Tsu is a brand new site and no one really knows whether this gonna work. There is no review or anything and even if there is, it's not a positive one. But they are writing reviews not because they really know about the site because they have not really try it out. The site is so new, no one really know the full facts. No payment proof so far.

I was skeptical and perhaps you too. But I am there and I need to figure it out. I saw people posting their earnings too. Not much, mere cents but still they are making money. I love Facebook but I decided to so-called quit using it because I got tired of it. And Facebook is not sharing its revenue with the users, the very people that make it rich. But Tsu is claiming it does and I am going to find out. Even if it doesn't, well at least I try.

Anyone can sign up BUT here's the thing. You need and invitation to get in there. So, here's my invitation to you. Click the link below and sign up. Lets be friends there, shall we?

NOTE: Read the TOS. This site like all revenue sharing sites DO NOT tolerate spammers. So don't post something or commenting on people's post like this 'follow me', 'friend me', 'like me' etc. Your account will be deleted if you do this. So beware. There are rules and we need to play by their rules if we want to make money. I am sharing some tips on making money on Tsu on my profile so make sure you read them and share them on your wall.

Crafts and homemade toys for my kids

One of the reasons I created this blog is to share some of my creative endeavors which includes my doodles. I have not been able to do any doodling or coloring of late (well, months) because my son has started to develop separation anxiety and gets really upset when I'm not around which makes it really difficult to do stuff. But I did do some crafts mainly toys or playthings for my kids. I shared some of them on my Bubblews posts...simple crafts and activities ideas:

I love the Hunger Games!

Since quitting Facebook (or checking updates way less than before) I have started to read books (!!). Yay! I am an avid reader but since becoming a mom I hardly have spare time to read apart from reading to my kids. I do read ebooks from my smartphone but hardly a real physical book. So when we went for our library trips I checked out some books. My latest read is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It's part of a trilogy so I am so looking forward to the next two books. I got hooked to it from the get-go and Collins is a very talented writer. I usually don't read pass 3 chapters if the book is boring but Collins managed to keep me guessing from one page to the next. Apparently the trilogy and its movie adaptations have been around for years but I wasn't interested because we were just starting a family and I hardly have room to think about anything else but our kids.

I am so happy that I discover this trilogy and I even watched the movies. Love them so much and I kinda have a silly crush on Peeta Mellark, one of the lead characters...haha...

Quitting Facebook?

Are you on facebook? (Who doesn't). I have an account too. I have been facebooking (is that even a real term?) since 2007. That is a long time. Seven years. I wonder the amount of time I spent or wasted there. Looking back I wished I didn't waste so much time there. Why? Well I have to admit that it didn't do much good to me. See when I saw pictures or statuses my friends posted I felt like my life is dull in comparison. They posted stuff like their big houses, their expensive cars, their vacations, how smart their kids are, how much money they got. I know I envy them because I can't afford many of the things they have. It's shallow but I just can't help feeling this way. I don't dislike them. I just dislike feeling envious. It's petty and ungrateful. So to avoid it I try to avoid facebooking. I only log in maybe less than 5 minutes a day to see if someone ask me something or need anything. I hardly see my news feed, just a quick scroll and that's it. I have been doing this for the past one month. I miss it but it's liberating at the same time. I have been using my 'facebooking time' to focus on my earning online activities like writing in Bubblews or doing my affiliate marketing campaigns. I don't care what's going on in my friends' lives, I don't need to know every single thing about them. I don't want to waste time anymore. And I am a much happier and grateful person when I don't have to constantly checking what's everyone is up to.
Don't you agree?

Don't envy others, just do your own thing

A good friend approached me recently to assist her in her growing business. She wanted me to be the person to maintain her social network accounts because she couldn't handle it herself because she spend so much time dealing with customers and suppliers. You know what she's selling? GOLD. Yeah your read it right. She is selling 916 gold jewelry on installment basis and she gets some commission when she sold something. And her business is flourishing and she is thinking to expand it to include order from overseas. Though I feel happy that she is doing so well a tiny part of me envy her. I don't know why but somehow I don't feel quite okay when she told me all these as if it makes me look inferior and all the work I did to supplement some income pales in comparison. I know it sounds stupid but I feel somehow cheated. I know this negative feeling is bad for me therefore I decided not to stay too long in that pity party. I surfed the internet to find some motivation and encouragement to get over my envy. So I found this article...16 Things Emotionally Strong People Don't Do.

There's a quote I like in point no. 5:
True confidence has no room for envy and resentment.  When you know you are great, you have no reason to hate.
So true. Why do I allow myself feeling this way? Is it doing something good to me? Of course NOT. Why spend my precious time on envying others? What good will I get? NOTHING.

Hence I decided to quit thinking too much about other people's blessings or comparing my blessings to others and use that time to just get busy with my own thing...including maintaining this blog and my website.

As for the work that she wanted me to do, we haven't reach a workable deal yet due to my time constraint but I don't mind doing the job for her if she is willing to compromise and allow me to do it within my time limitation. I did told her how many hours I could spare to complete the task. It means extra income for us. But if she decided am not the person for the job (due to my limited time), I am okay with it too. Hey, I appreciate it that she approached me at the first place but I couldn't stretch myself too thin - I still need to homeschool my daughter and work on my online business. Those things need my attention and top priority.
